A perfect Miami kickoff: luxury, flavor and fun before our cruise

Arriving in Miami a day before our cruise wasn’t just a smart decision—it turned out to be an unforgettable start to our adventure. With its vibrant energy, world-class dining and luxurious accommodations, Miami set the tone for an incredible vacation.

From checking into the elegant JW Marriott Brickell, where comfort and style met in every detail, to exploring the lively nightlife and indulging in some seriously delicious eats, our pre-cruise stay was the perfect mix of relaxation and excitement. Whether you're looking to unwind by a rooftop pool, savor top-tier cuisine or pick up a few last-minute cruise essentials, Miami delivers in every way.

And the fun didn’t stop there! With our ship’s boarding time later afternoon, we took full advantage of Virgin Voyages’ early luggage drop-off, giving us extra time to soak up Miami’s energy. We headed to Bayside Marketplace with a morning of shopping, facials, live entertainment and stunning waterfront views—including a perfect glimpse of our ship waiting for us in the distance.

From start to sail, Miami was the ultimate pre-cruise playground. Here’s how we made the most of it!

HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS

Our stay at the JW Marriott Brickell in downtown Miami was the perfect launchpad for our cruise vacation. From the warm, attentive staff to the spa-like bathroom, super soft and comfortable bed, bar/restaurant, gym and a stunning rooftop pool—luxury was everywhere.

BRICKELL NIGHTLIFE

After settling in, we explored the vibrant Brickell neighborhood, packed with entertainment, shopping and dining. Dinner at Dolores But You Can Call Me Lolita was a standout (the steak is a must-try!), followed by gelato at Mammamia Brickell and a stroll through the dazzling Brickell City Centre shopping mall. We even made a quick stop at Publix for cruise essentials (hello, sunscreen and wine!).

BAYSIDE MARKETPLACE

The next day, with our ship's boarding time set for 2 p.m., we took advantage of Virgin Voyages’ perk of early luggage drop-off. That freed us up to soak in more Miami magic at Bayside Marketplace. Brunch at La Industria Bakery & Cafe was an absolute showstopper (seriously, check their menu!), and we spent the rest of the time shopping, getting a facial, enjoying live entertainment around us and soaking in views of our ship in the distance.
