2024 Virgin Voyages Cruise

I’ve heard the buzz about Virgin Voyages and was curious if it lived up to the hype. So, my friend and I set sail on a six-night Eastern Caribbean cruise aboard the stunning Resilient Lady. Our itinerary: Grand Turk (Turks & Caicos), Puerto Plata (Dominican Republic) and Bimini (Bahamas), with two relaxing days at sea. Spoiler alert: it was everything we hoped for—and more!

This cruise was phenomenal. From the luxurious accommodations and the soothing hammock on our balcony (seriously, a game changer!) to the attentive crew, jaw-dropping entertainment, delectable food, and friendly fellow sailors, we were hooked. Honestly, after lounging in that hammock, I might never be able to cruise without one again.

VIRGIN VOYAGES - RESILIENT LADY

Our Virgin Voyages cruise on Resilient Lady was absolutely amazing! It’s hard to pick a favorite part—relaxing in the hammock on our private balcony, meeting the incredibly kind, fun and lively fellow sailors, the variety of food we had or enjoying the extremely talented entertainers and Happenings Cast. It was a fantastic time!

SEA TERRACE ROOM

The Sea Terrace Room is sleek, modern and fun. You can control the lights (dimmable, mood presets and various colors), temperature and entertainment in your room on the tablet.

Your private hammock was our favorite! We would sit out on the balcony and read in the morning with the sunrise, enjoy the views when we were getting ready for dinner, gaze at the moon, stars and open water at night before bed and even took a little nap. And to do all of that from the hammock was incredible!

Another favorite is that you never know what you will see in the water on your at sea days or at port from your balcony. We saw hundreds of flying fish while at sea and sharks while at port. Others also saw sea turtles!

DINING EXPERIENCE

Dining on Virgin Voyages is truly unique—no buffets, no assigned seating and everything made-to-order. And they are really good about adjusting any menu item you may need for allergies.

While I have a child-like palate, I still found plenty to enjoy and loved trying dishes I wouldn’t normally pick.

My favorites included Pink Agave’s modern Mexican flavors, the lively Korean BBQ at Gunbae, late-night pesto chicken pizza from The Pizza Place, and The Wake’s incredible bread and butter (yes, we went back just for that!). The Hanger Steak at The Dock House, served on the open deck, made for a perfect afternoon treat. Even with my picky tastes, every meal left me completely satisfied!

For those with a more adventurous palate, there’s an extensive selection of dishes to enjoy, including sea bass, tuna, shrimp, roasted duck, smoked pork, clam chowder, mussels, oysters, crawfish, lobster, crab claws, crab legs, octopus and so much more!

THE VIEWS

The views from the ship and out at sea are absolutely breathtaking.

From the vibrant ports and stunning sunsets to the lush mountains of the Dominican Republic, every moment offers something beautiful to take in.

Onboard, the ship itself is full of unique and fun spaces to explore, whether you're relaxing by the pool, enjoying the ocean breeze on deck or discovering hidden gems and fun entryways.

ONBOARD ENTERTAINMENT AND ACTIVITIES

The entertainment on the ship is like no other! On the first day, you sail away from port during the Let's Set Sail party with entertainment, free champagne and dancing. It's definitely the best way to kick off your vacation!

We tried to do as many of the evening events as possible, such as the PJ Party, The Miss Behave Show, Bingo with the Diva, Another Rose, Scarlet Night, Persephone, and Karaoke with the Diva.

There is so much to do on the ship, you can't do it all! There's also the casino, Squid Ink (tattoo parlor), Redemption Spa, wellness and workout classes, trivia and other games, shopping, pickleball, live music and more shows.

There is definitely something for everyone, whether it's chilling on the deck, focusing on wellness, challenging the mind or partying - Virgin Voyages offers it all.

PORT EXCURSIONS AND ADVENTURES

One of the things I absolutely love about cruising is the opportunity to explore various ports along the way. Each stop offers a unique glimpse into the local culture, allowing you to immerse yourself in the traditions, flavors and experiences that make each destination special. Every port brought its own beauty, excitement and charm.

GRAND TURK - CATAMARAN SAILAWAY, SNORKEL and BEACH

This excursion was amazing from start to finish! The catamaran ride was so much fun with free rum cocktails and dancing that set the perfect tone for the day.

Snorkeling was at a different location than what they normally do due to the weather, but was an absolute treat with plenty of colorful fish to admire.

Then we stopped at a stunning beach with a view of our ship in the background—a true paradise to relax and soak it all in. Some even saw stingray from the beach!

Grand Turk port also had Margaritaville free pool, beach, loungers, music and dancing along with food and of course, various margarita beverages.

PUERTO PLATA - DAMAJAGUA WATERFALLS - ZIP N' DIP

This was an absolute thrill! Hiking through narrow trails, climbing hundreds of steps, zip-lining over the rainforest and exploring the stunning waterfalls gave us endless excitement.

After the five different zip-line trails and two suspension bridges (one with no railings!), we made our way into the river. Cooling off in the refreshing water, we plunged down various waterfalls and swam through caverns.

To end the adventure, we jumped off an 18-foot waterfall! It looked like 30 feet from up there! It was a mix of terror and pure adrenaline for me, but I did it! This experience was both thrilling, fun and certainly unforgettable. Definitely an excursion for the adventurous traveler.

BIMINI ISLAND

Unfortunately, the weather didn’t cooperate, so we couldn’t do the Sapona Shipwreck Swim and Snorkel excursion in Bimini as planned—hopefully next time! Instead, we made the most of our day by starting with a relaxing morning at Bimini Beach.

Later, we joined our new cruise friends for a fun golf cart ride around the island, stopping to enjoy a delicious local lunch at My 3 Daughters Restaurant with freshly caught fish and conch (sorry, I forgot to take photos). In the afternoon, we ventured to the southernmost part of the island to see the shipwreck from shore. The water was a breathtaking array of blues—absolutely stunning!

Lastly, we browsed the shops at Fisherman's Village before we went back to our ship.

As you can see, my Virgin Voyages experience was an incredible mix of relaxation, adventure and fun! The dining was fantastic with unique, made-to-order dishes. The drinks were also a hit—super reasonable prices without needing a pricey drink package, thanks to the flexible bar tab option. Free Wi-Fi was a game changer for staying connected, and the adults-only atmosphere created a calm yet vibrant vibe. The entertainment was top-notch, with fun shows, engaging events and lively parties.

But let me be real—Virgin Voyages isn’t for everyone. It’s strictly for adults (18+) and you’ll need to bring an open mind. Can you handle a karaoke or bingo night hosted by a Diva? How about an ice cream shop cheekily named Lick Me Till… Ice Cream? Can you watch adult-entertainment (don’t worry, nothing risqué—it’s classy fun) with hearing the f-bomb a lot? Most importantly, if you embrace a vibe that’s inclusive, bold and unapologetically different, you’ll fit right in.

Virgin Voyages strikes the perfect balance of luxury, freedom and fun. I would definitely sail on Virgin Voyages again!
